Classic BLUE TRIANGLE session, and my second session of the day.
After getting the kids home and taking on board some lunch, it was off to Camber to claim the sea breeze session.
Forecast showed 7mph S-SW, but it just looked like being so much more than that with the added 'Camber effect'.
Sure enough, got the call from Camber Mafia saying looked like could be 5.7m weather, 6.5m worst case.
Couldn't believe the car park was near empty on arrival. Sure it was high tide so most of the tea baggers couldnt play. Turned out to be just five windsurfers and possibly even less tea baggers out for a full power afternoon on the water in the sunshine.
I went for the 6.4m Duke on the Hawk 123, mainly because i'd not tried that combo and I wanted to. Also, Camber Mafia was on his 6.5m and was flying. Tim Bassett was on his 5.9m Duke and also well powered up, though sneaks into lightweigth category tbh.
Choice was spot on and had a superb afternoon from well powered to near overpowered, though it seems the Duke thrives on being well powered up. It also seems to have plenty of get up and go, so well impressed me all round.
Had a few runs up to the harbour mouth and full-on broad downwinders back to Jury's parellel to the beach. Shame I didn't have gps on as I suspect we were not far off 30 knots board speed.
Could easily have used 5.9m Duke, and possibly even dropped to the twin fin 84 and the 5.3m Ego .... if I'd got a Twin Fin 93 in the van I'd have switched to that and the 5.9m for sure, but I was having too much fun on the Hawk and 6.4m to bother changing down and losing time on the water.
Absolute classic 3+ hour session, when it seems noone else trusted in the 'force'
